Designer Diary

Although this is a little late as we are well into the current supplement 'The Eastern Bank' (working title) we thought it might be interesting for for people to see what's going on. Because we only have a small team of writers and artists we can't produce the amount of supplements some companies can so this, at least will give players something to read in the meantime.

Please bear in mind that we don't want to give away all the details of the supplement so we won't post many details.

Notification of updates to this diary will be posted on Deniable Resources. www.deniableresources.co.uk

We should begin by outlining the Eastern Bank. It's a area of north east Asia which incorporates the Okhotsk Sea and it's coastline territories. For anyone with the A3 map which comes with the GM screen, the main area of interest incorporates Magadan Spire, Takeda Spire and Amur Border Spire. The proximity of these three Corporations makes the area extremely dangerous and as a result there are very tight UIG legislations in place. The area is designated a Capital Code Zone which mean different laws apply and heavier sentencing for crimes.

Recently we have been ironing out the position the Western Federation hold in this area. Although they have no strongholds here, their UAS divisions (urban assault specialists) are present. As a result the UAS have been written up fully and are playable WF Agents with a number of interesting traits which make them a fun character choice and extremely dangerous in urban combat.

In addition we have been working on lawyers, there is a 'Lawyer Training' which is used to reduce rank loss if sentenced for a crime. In additional there are law firms which you can employ to do the same thing. The nature of Eastern Bank means that players are more than likely to get caught by the UIG on numerous occasions so they are really going to need some legal support.

We are just about to start the layout out the book, we don't have all the source material yet but its good to see it laid out and makes it much easier to playtest when it's all set out properly. We can also see what additional images would be good so we can tell our artists.

The playtesters are currently trying out lots of the new trainings and pieces of equipment to check them for system flaws  and over / under powering. We have also nailed down some of the laws this week which were a little ambiguous or vague yet quite important to the Corporate world such as how much authority do Corporations have within their own territories and can they establish unusual bi-laws specific to their jurisdiction.

As an extra surprise, here is listed the a list of the Trainings due to appear in the next supplement. This is provisional and not final.

After some initial issues and clarifying the contents we have got stuck into the layout properly. Just to prove it here is the start of the 'Character' section which details the new trainings, downtime options, licenses and so on.

5/2/08

The layout is still going well. The Ai-Jinn Section is essentially complete with 5 pages detailing more about how to play these international gangsters including info on the ID chip and how play and run Triads. The Comoros Section is now in progress and we have some more art incoming.

25/2/08
There was a lot more writing for the completion of Comoros and the Federation which has now been completed (pretty much). The Comoros Centre for World Culture, located in South Korea, will be a fun and eclectic place to stage games. Both sets of Agents Elite Squads Comoros 'Janissaries' and Western Federation 'Urban Assault Specialists' are completed. We are now working on E.I and the Shi-Yukiro.
